As the UK’s premier hop propagator, we have over 40 years experience in hops and consider it a privilege to supply you with top quality hop plants. The A+ Plant Health Propagation Scheme (PHPS) - requires us to meet rigorous standards. Plants are produced from elite Permanent Layer Beds tested free of Hop Latent Viroid and Canker with “Zero Tolerance” of: Verticillium Wilt, Arabis mosaic virus, Prunus necrotic ringspot virus, Hop mosaic virus (Goldings). Nowhere else in the world are so many precautions taken, so you can be sure of getting the best quality stock available.

At A Plus hops we have been producing hop roots, to supply to the hop growing trade since 1963. All plants are grown under strict disease control and are inspected by the Defra to comply with the stringent rules laid out for the A Plus scheme. We endeavour to produce the highest quality plant out of the main stream growing area for isolation purposes.

For many years wholesale nursery growers have been able to supply the golden hop Humulus lupulus aureaus, and seedling hops that do not always grow hop cones, thus disappointing their customers. In addition the wild hops are nearly all male hops which do not produce cones and are always larger plants gaining some 15 to 18ft in height. For the smaller gardeners this has often put them off buying hops. To this end we are able to supply two varieties of dwarf hops, Prima Donna and Golden Tassels. These two varieties are superb for those gardeners as they only reach approximately 10ft and look superb in planters and garden containers or planted in the garden alongside existing plants or even in a small hop garden.

For the first time now we are able to offer both bare root plants and plants in 2 litre pots. This means than now we are able to supply plants vitrually all year around.

All plants are grown under strict disease control and are inspected by the Ministry Of Agriculture to comply with the stringent rules laid out for the A Plus scheme. The reason the unit is situated in the rural Suffolk countryside is to prevent the plants becoming infected by viroids, wilt, and other diseases. We endeavour to produce the highest quality plant out of the main stream growing area for isolation purposes.
